‘The Message’ is a hypnotic house cut from newcomer Naylor. We’re teased into the track via a minimalistic drum pattern, before slowly evolving synths take the tune in mesmerising directions. The track is further inflected with looping vocal lines, retro arpeggiators and rising white noise that reminisces of the 2020 festivals that never happened. “I was imagining it being played live at the festival that never was,” he explains. “Made during the enforced lockdown yet made with no restrictions, making music for music’s sake. I wanted to make something that had driving drums but retains a sonic landscape that can conjure different images and escapism for the listener.” Be on the lookout for more from Naylor as he continues to work on his sound this year. -Dan Peeke
